A trader at the Central Business District of Accra has reportedly been stabbed by a member of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly taskforce.
The victim is said to be in critical condition.
The incident happened when the taskforce descended on the traders and seized their goods as part of efforts to enforce the de-congestion exercise in the capital.
Eye witnesses told Joy FM’s Paa Kwasi Asare that after the goods were seized, the traders massed up to try and resist the carting away of their goods.
In the ensuing confusion, one of the AMA market guards picked a stone and pelted one trader who fell to the ground.
The enraged guard again pounced on the trader and stabbed him in the rib.
According to some of the traders, blood gushed out of the wounded trader and many ran for their lives.
Some brave traders however managed to take the victim to the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital but he was refused admission.
The traders claimed the victim died while they were in the process of conveying him to the 37 Military Hospital but further checks by Joy FM indicate he is in critical condition.
