Some members of the Convention People's Party(CPP) have accused the party's Flagbearer and its National Chairman of splitting its members.
In a statement, the youth said Ivor Greenstreet and Prof. Edmund Delle are not adhering to the fundamental principles of the Party "which seeks to pursue social justice for all Ghanaians."
The party suspended its National Youth Organiser, Ernesto Yeboah and its General Secretary, Nii Armah Akomfra after a National Executive Committee meeting last Wednesday.
The suspension was for acts of indiscipline and their decision to publicly contradict their flagbearer on the controversial issue of the President's acceptance of the Ford gift.
The CPP members believe the action by the leadership of the party is nothing more than "selective justice carried out by elements bent on allying [the] Party to the National Democratic Congress NDC."
They warned that the action risks alienating members and called on the leadership of the CPP to learn 'to create a CPP for the people, not for the out-of-touch CPP leadership in Accra'
They called on the party's disciplinary Committee to reject outright what they term, 'the Delle and Greenstreet orchestrated campaign' to stop the Youth League’s anti-corruption drive.'
They added that failure on the part of the leadership to lift the suspension will confirm the public perception that "Prof. Delle and Mr Greenstreet have been planted by the NDC to destroy the CPP."
"To justify bribery by any means to win favours from the ruling party at the expense of your own Party is absurd and will not be tolerated," the statement added.
They urged Prof. Delle and Mr Greenstreet to support the Youth League’s anti-Corruption campaign and immediately rescind the decision to suspend both the General Secretary and the Youth Organiser.
The statement listed some corruption scandals under the Mahama-led administration to serve as a reminder to Prof. Delle and Mr Greenstreet. They include:
