The governing National Democratic Congress says it will be launching its elections 2016 campaign next week without a manifesto.
Addressing a news conference in Accra, the party’s Campaign team spokesperson, Joyce Bawah Mogtari said although the campaign will be launched on August 14, 2016 in the central region, the manifesto will be released at a later date, Joy News' Joseph Ackah-Blay reports.
“The manifesto launch is still in the offing and when we are ready it will be communicated in due course, but Sunday be specifically to outdoor our candidate and to officially launch our 2016 campaign for the elections,” she said.
She indicated that the theme for this year’s campaign will be “Changing lives, transforming Ghana.”

The party is certain that President John Mahama will be re-elected in December.
Mrs Mogtari said President Mahama is “the best candidate for this year’s election.”
National campaign coordinator of the party, Kofi Adams explained to Ackah-Blay that it is a usual practice of the party to launch campaign before the manifesto.
He had earlier in an interview indicated that the party’s manifesto will be focusing on “investing in our people that will change their lives and transform Ghana”.
Giving hints of the content of the yet-to-be released document, Kofi Adams said the manifesto would continue to place premium on human development and welfare, as well as infrastructure development.
The NDC 2016 manifesto, Mr Adams further disclosed, would also capture the socio-economic and political realities after 2012 and then showcase governments’ programmes and activities that would bring out the realities beyond 2016.
With about four months to the general elections, none of the registered political parties have launched its manifesto.
