The Progressive People's Party (PPP) is demanding the Oguaa Traditional Council to answer why it is allowing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to launch its campaign in Cape Coast when there is a ban on noise making.

The Cape Coast North and South Parliamentary Candidates of the PPP, Sarah Ewuraesi Bucknor and Bright Edem Drofenu want to know whether some parties are more important than others.

They have demanded explanations at a press conference in Cape Coast, Tuesday. 

However, in an interview with Joy News' Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, a spokesperson for the Council, Nana Kweku Enu said, the NDC has not approached the Council that they are going to have their campaign launch. 

According to him, they [Council] only heard it on the airwaves.

He says, for them, the ban is still in force and whoever disturbs the peace of the area would be dealt with as they have a task force in place.

Mr Kwaku Enu stated that for now, no one has breached the law on noise making but if anybody or corporate entity does, they will deal with them.

This is in contrast with what a source with the Afahye Planning Committee told Joy News. 

The source said the NDC sent a delegation to see the chiefs who are reported to be divided on whether to allow the party to launch its campaign or not.

Joy News has gathered that a committee was subsequently tasked to consider it and the chief are due to decide either today or tomorrow.
