Land and homeowners in the Western Region are reportedly ejecting their indigenous tenants enmasse to take in expatriates and other investors moving to the region because of Ghana's oil find. The locals complain the already harsh living conditions in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis are set to worsen because they now have to compete with oil-rich companies and other investors for residential and office spaces. Residents were hoping for some intervention by the government but Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo, said nothing can be done about their plight. He advised those who cannot afford accommodation in town to relocate to areas where rent is more affordable. Source: Joy News/Ghana
