A 50-year old trader, contesting the December 28 assembly poll in the Mpasatia-Ahenbronum electoral area in the Atwima-Mponua district, Madam Agens Owusu, has vowed to work tirelessly towards the elimination of child labour when elected.
She said she would work through the Assembly to ensure that every child in the area had the opportunity to attend school.
Minors should neither be engaged on the farm nor any form of commercial activity, Madam Owusu, popularly known as “Wonders” among her admirers told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Mpasatia Monday.
“I am determined and will passionately work towards this goal.”
She is one of four women, who had come out to contest the Assembly elections in the district.
Madam Owusu said she would also lobby for more development projects by way of improvement of the town’s roads, streetlights and construction of sanitation facilities.
She would also hold regular meetings to report back to the people decisions of the Assembly and to also articulate their development concerns on the floor of the Assembly.
“We would not be denied our share of development”, she added.
