The Minister of the Interior, Mr Martin A.B.K. Amidu, on Monday swore into office three new members of the Ghana National Fire Service Council.
The three members of the 11-member Fire Service Council are the Acting Chief Fire Officer, Mr Albert Brown Gaisie, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, representing the Ministry of Transport and Mr Roland Atta Modey, Director of Policy, Monitoring, Evaluation Division of the Ministry of the Interior, representing the Ministry on the Council.
The Interior Minister administered the Official Oath, the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Secrecy to the new members.
Mr Amidu appealed to the members of the Council to be guided at all times by the law setting up the Ghana National Fire Service to assist the Ministry of the Interior to formulate appropriate policies to efficiently govern the Service.
He cautioned them against assuming functions that were not entrusted to them by law or interfere in the day-to-day administration of the Fire Service so as not to undermine command and control structure, which is paramount for the enforcement of institutional discipline and professionalism of the Service.
Mr Amidu urged Council members not to be personally involved in determining who was to be recruited into the Service during the on-going recruitment exercise.
Mr Atta Modey, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the Minister for their appointment and promised to render dedicated service to the Council.
Among those present at the swearing-in ceremony were the Deputy Interior Minister, Dr. Kwasi Apea-Kubi and Alhaji Salifu Osman, the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior.Source: GNA
