A former National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to party faithful across the country to be extra vigilant during the December 7 elections.

According to Fred Oware, the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) has realised the NPP would be triumphant in the upcoming general elections hence has put in plans to rig the elections.

He made the appeal when addressing a "Teachers Arise For Change Rally" at the Peki College of Education in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.

He explained that because the Mahama-led administration can not afford to suffer the humiliation when their corrupt acts are exposed after losing the elections, the NDC has planned to put their 'cheating expertise' to work come the general elections.

''These guys we are dealing with, they are masters of the game and this will not be the first time that they will attempt to cheat, they have been cheating in the past and this time the stakes are higher for them because they know that their time is up," he said. 

''They know that per the amount of monies that they have stolen...if they lose this election, what is happening in Nigeria will also happen here [Ghana],'' he added. 

Mr Oware, therefore, charged NPP sympathisers to vigilantly monitor the election process at their various polling centres in order to achieve the change of government that Ghanaians are calling for.

''We must make sure that we take part in the upcoming elections, not by just going to vote or convincing others to votes, but we should make that actively we engage the electoral processes," he said.

Mr Oware said the party faithful have to play some roles, adding "on that day itself, we should be found at the polling station, it can only be done when you would have allowed yourself to be trained in the process.''

Joy News Volta Regional correspondent, Fred Quame Asare reports that he also chastised the NDC government for not recording significant improvement in the education sector and also neglecting teachers.

The former Vice Chairman hinted that the NPP's 2016 manifesto contains policies and programs aimed at improving the education sector, teachers and teacher trainees as well.

''Believe you me, when you see the NPP 2016 manifesto you will find that adequate preparation has been made towards the goodness of your [teachers] future,'' he said. 

The Volta Regional NPP Chairman, John Peter Amewu jabbed President John Mahama for failing to fulfill the numerous promises he made to teachers during the 2012 campaign spree of the NDC.

He also reiterated the NPPs plan of restoring teacher trainee allowance and urged the teacher trainees to vote massively for the NPP to enable the Nana Akufo-Addo government to implement its numerous policies aimed at salvaging Ghanaians from the current hardship in the country.
