A 24 year old Ghanaian student was found dead on the campus of a north-eastern Iowa college.
The deceased, Nana Kwasi Baffour-Awuah, was found on Saturday morning in the snow according to police.
Authorities say an autopsy has been scheduled for the coming week and results won't be available for several weeks.
Baffour-Awuah hails from Tema and was a major student in information systems and business management.
Police reports say he was found dead after a 911 call on Saturday.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting local authorities with investigations.
A spokesperson for the college described the late Baffour Awuah as an exceptional student, popular guy, well-known and well-liked.
He was among about 165 international students and athletes who stayed on campus over the winter break. Classes start today and Mr Johnson says the mood on the campus is going to be very sad, very somber for the next several weeks.
Counselors are being made available to talk to students, who were informed of the death Saturday via a campus wide e-mail.
A prayer vigil for Baffour-Awuah is scheduled for today in conjunction with the campus' first chapel service of the semester.
