Joy Business has gathered that the various parties negotiating the new minimum wage are hoping to continue discussions on the matter next week.The rescheduling of the talks, according to Joy Business sources, became necessary after the Tripartite Committee Monday failed to agree on a marginal increase of 15 pesewas which will raise the minimum wage to 3 Ghana cedis 26 pesewas.The 8.7 percent increase was proposed by the sub-technical committee.The Deputy Employment and Social Welfare Minister, Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere is unable to confirm when the meeting will be reconvened. He however told Joy Business all the parties have agreed that a new minimum wage has to be determined before the end of the month.He said all parties were determined to reach an agreement so that “working people will have the benefit of enjoying the minimum wage.”Source: Joy News/Ghana
