A 28-year old Area Manager of the Nyankumasi Ahenkro Rural Bank in the Assin South District of the Central Region, Samuel A. Davidson, on Sunday met his untimely death at Mprudwo near Abura Dunkwa when the motorbike he was riding veered off the road.Briefing Daily Guide, the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District Police Commander, Bernard Twum-Barimah, said on Sunday around 6.30 pm, his outfit was informed about an accident at Mprudwo near Abura Dunkwa involving a motorbike rider.Mr. Barimah, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, told Daily Guide that an eyewitness who was following the rider said he saw the motor veering off the road at a spot, where the bike dragged the rider to a distance of about 50 metres. The eyewitness therefore took the victim to the AAK Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police officer disclosed that upon hearing the information, he dispatched his men to the scene where it was realised that the spot was an accident-prone area. The ASP hinted that a thorough inspection revealed that the bank manager was not wearing the prescribed helmet. He appealed to companies and other institutions to erect road sings at accident-prone areas under the authorisation of the Highways Authority to save lives."There is so much indiscipline on our roads. Drivers totally refuse to stop when police personnel at various barriers order them to stop to inspect their documents," he added.ASP Barimah expressed conccrn about the way the articulated driver who allegedly hit and killed two kids and a woman, last Thursday at a zebra crossing on the Kwesimintsim-Takoradi highway, refused to stop when the police at Abura Dunkwa barrier ordered him to do so for checks on that fateful day.The body of Davidson has since been deposited at the Abura Dunkwa Government Hospital for autopsy.Source: Daily Guide
