The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment in conjunction with the Institute of Local Government Studies has organized a three-day orientation workshop for assembly members in the Ahafo-Ano South district at Mankranso.
It was aimed at equipping the members with requisite skills to enable them to carry out their
duties effectively.
The 60 participants were taken through the model standing orders, Local Government Acts, and the role of assembly members, among others.
Addressing the closing session, Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive, commended the organizers and the facilitators for adequately explaining their functions to them, especially the issues on gender balance to enable them to work efficiently and effectively.
He emphasized that women were considered more honest in financial management and therefore said girl-child education should be crucial to parents to enable them to attain high laurels in education.
The DCE urged the assembly members to impact
the skills acquired on their daily activities to ensure success and development of their electoral areas.
