A total of 27 suspected criminals including two women were arrested at Pentua Wala in Koforidua about 06:30 hours on Thursday following a special operation conducted by the New Juaben Municipal Police Command.
Superintendent of Police Lovelace Kaletsi Tefutor, the Municipal Police Commander, said the operation was conducted following a tip-off that a group of criminals were harassing passengers at Pentua Wala.
He said the criminals had taken over a container and a Police Tent at a Metro Mass Transport station at the area smoking leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and harassing passengers arriving at the station.
Items found on the suspects include five black polythene bags containing quantity of leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a Toshiba lap top computer, four cutlasses, two big hammers and a bag.
Superintendent Tefutor said the suspects would be screened and those found to be criminals would be arraigned.
