Former President Jerry John Rawlings leaves Accra for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Wednesday to participate in the African Union (AU) Summit scheduled for January 27 and 31.
An official statement from his office said former President Rawlings was attending the summit in his capacity as AU High Representative on Somalia.
It said during the summit the former President would also hold meetings with major stakeholders on Somalia ahead of the official commencement of his role in the war-torn country.
The statement said he would be accompanied by his aides, Mr Kofi Adams and Mr Kobina Andoh.
