Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has arrived in England over a loan deal with Sunderland after his club Inter Milan gave him the approval to speak with the English side.
Talks have already started with the Black Cats and if terms of a proposed loan deal are sealed, Muntari could join Sunderland by Thursday evening, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Sources close the the player say the negotiations are not expected to drag as Muntari is desperate to play for Sunderland.
Muntari flew into the North East last night – after the Black Cats were given permission to talk to the midfielder by Inter Milan.
The Ghana international jetted into Newcastle Airport to hold talks over a possible move to the Stadium of Light.
He is expected to sign for six months on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer, and was left out of Inter’s squad for last night’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Napoli.
Muntari has been linked with a number of clubs, such as Liverpool and Tottenham, as speculation intensified following the summer departure of manager Jose Mourinho from the San Siro.
If Muntari joins Sunderland he would be the third Ghanaian in the Black Cats squad, joining John Mensah and record signing Asamoah Gyan on Wearside.
