The Black Satellites will begin their African Youth title defence Monday afternoon with an all too familiar foe in Nigeria.
Ghana and Nigeria on any day is a fierce contest and the encounter will be no different.
Ghana’s Group B is described as the Group of death with Cameroon and Gambia the other members of the Group.
The Satellites have had a smooth training tour ahead of this tournament and that is expected to come in handy in the competition.
Nigeria is aware of Ghana’s pedigree in youth football but they also have high hopes.
Nigerian sports journalist, George Aluo said Nigerians believe the game with Ghana will be the toughest for the Flying Eagles.
He said his country’s side are not unaware of the fact that the Black Satellites are the defending champions, and that the defeat of the U-23 side of Ghana will energise the Satellites.
Aluo however maintained the Flying Eagles are determined to hold their own.
Meanwhile, host South Africa lost 2-4 to Mali in their opening Group A game. Egypt also defeated Lesotho 2-0 in the other Group A game.
