Reigning Champions Aduana Stars halted the winning run of Premier League leaders Berekum Chelsea with a 1-0 defeat in a match day 24 fixture at the Dormaa Ahenkro Park Wednesday.
Joseph Mugri scored in the 22nd minute to seal victory for the home team.
Head Coach of Aduana Stars, Herbert Addo credited the victory to his tactical approach to the game.
Asante Kotoko held on to the second spot despite drawing goalless with relegation threatened Real Tamale United at the Tamale Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors are now 12 points behind Chelsea and need to win all remaining six matches to brighten their chances of overtaking the leaders.
Head Coach Bogdan Korak believes it is an achievable task.
Meanwhile, Head Coach of Real Tamale United, Mohammed Gargo says his side did not fight hard enough to win the match.
AshantiGold dropped one place to fifth after being held to a 1-1 draw by third placed Medeama SC at the Tarkwa T&A Park.
Theophilus Annoh Baah opened the scoring for the Miners in the 7th minute but Louis Agyemang netted to put Medeama back on level terms.

Mighty Jets jumped out of the drop zone after holding Heart of Lions to a goalless draw at the Kpando Park.
Meanwhile, King Faisal joined the relegation dog fight after losing 3-1 to Wa All Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.
