Ghana’s Reginald Okantey continued his supreme form at the West and Central Africa Junior tennis qualifiers in Lome, Togo notching series of wins over the weekend in the tournament featuring 11 nations.
His performance was rewarded with qualifications into the main draw of the African Junior Tennis Championship, he joins Nigerians duo Michael Ayoola and Michael Osewa, Jadoun Nicolas from Senegal and Ivorian Coulibaly Wilfried.
Of the 12 Ghanaians at the tournament which serves as CAT Zone 2 qualifiers for the African Junior Championship in South Africa in March, only Reginald Okantey managed to qualifier.
Reginald who will be participating in the African Junior Championship for the second time in an interview granted tennisgh.com said “I am happy I have qualified for AJC again, know most of the players and my target now is to my best to make sure that I get a medal for Ghana”.
Coach Noah Bagerbaseh said “It was a decent performance by the youngsters; Reginald did for very well and our preparation for this championship has really been excellent and it really brings out the best in the performance of our players”
