A cab driver was caught on tape praising John Elway as the best quarterback of all time, while the NFL legend — unbeknownst to him — was sitting in his backseat.
“He’s a great quarterback,” explained Sam Snow, in the now-viral Facebook video, posted last week by Glenn Stearns.
“A great quarterback,” he said.
Snow — who was wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers jacket — had been driving around Washington D.C. with a group of people during the inauguration when they suddenly pulled out their cell phones and started asking him some football-related questions.
“I asked our cab driver Mr. Sam Snow to name his top three quarterbacks of all time,” Stearns said. “This is what happens when he finally realizes he is driving his #1 choice!”
The encounter was shared by countless people on Monday, and had already racked up nearly 300,000 views as of 11:30 p.m.
In the clip, Snow can be heard explaining why Elway is his “Number 1,” and Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger are “Numbers 2 and 3” — all while Elway unsuspectingly snickers in the back seat.
Attempting to have some fun with the cabbie, a woman sitting next to the Denver Broncos executive vice president — presumably his wife — tells Snow, “I think [Elway] is hot.”
“This girl slept with him,” Stearns says.
“Hey, with the money he got…guys would go to bed with him,” Snow adds, sparking several laughs.
“Would you go to bed with John Elway?” a woman asks.
“No, no, no, I don’t roll like that,” Snow says.
After chatting for several minutes, the group finally lets the Steelers fan in on the secret.
“Oh, come on man — are you serious?! It’s John Elway!” Snow says. “Man, I gotta take a picture…Seriously! That’s John Elway! I’ll be damned.”
