The headteacher of Adadekrom Local Authority Primary School in the Birim North District, Mr Frederick Mireku, died last Friday when he was bitten by a snake behind his house at Mpintimpi.Briefing the Daily Graphic at Mpintimpi near Akyem Afosu last Sunday, the eldest son of the deceased, Mr Frank Mireku, a tutor at New Abirem Senior High School, said his father left the school located at Adadekrom and went to his residence at Mpintimpi.Frank said no sooner had Mr Mireku finished having his supper, than a friend of his from Ukase near Nkawkaw, came to purchase a ram from his pen.He said after selling the animal to the man, he went to see him off. After walking a short distance from the house, Mr Mireku was bitten by a snake.Frank said Mr Mireku was given first aid as early as possible and was rushed to the New Abirem Government Hospital for treatment.He said on reaching the hospital, the deceased was given drips as part of the treatment, which allowed him a little progress in recovery.Frank stated that while conversing with his mother and other relatives, Mr Mireku complained of dizziness and bodily pains.He said they reported his deteriorating health condition to the nurse on duty, who, after contacting the medical officer, gave him another drip, but after panting for breath for sometime he died.His body has been deposited at the Agyakwa Hospital at Nkawkaw for autopsy.Source: Daily Graphic
