The parents of a twin baby girl born with a deformity and needing immediate surgery have expressed profound gratitude to Adom FM and its mother company, Multimedia Group Limited for promptly responding to their plea for financial assistance. The two-month old sweet little girl (her brother hale and hearty), was born with a congenital brain condition known as hydrocephalus, (the accumulation of excess cerebrospinal fluid in the brain cavities) as well as protrusion of the spinal cord and nerves through a lumbar defect thereby destroying the brain, the cord and their functions.A medical report by the Department of Surgery of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, prepared by Dr. G.K. Wepeba, a Consultant Neurosurgeon advised that the baby needed to undergo a brain surgery called ventriculo-peritoneal shunting to divert the fluid from the brain through a special tube into the abdominal cavity and then excise and repair the lumbar protrusion. The parents, unable to readily raise the GHS3,000 required for the surgery at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, turned to the MGL group which readily responded, with Tema-based Adom FM providing a cheque for the amount.Adom FM also recently led a successful campaign to solicit for funds to enable a seven-year old boy hole-in-heart patient to undergo surgery to correct his condition.Story by Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
