Managers of the National Health Insurance scheme in the Northern Region have debunked claims by some section of the media that their salaries have been slash by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to sustain the scheme.The NHIS Scheme Managers described the reports as baseless and unfounded.They condemned the calls by some section of the labour union for the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority Mr Sylvester Mensah and the council members, saying that, they have full confidence in them.Believing that, the purported report is coming from UNIGOF, a labour union, the Scheme Manager stated categorically that, they will not be part of any industrial unrest that will affect the sick in the region who badly need their service.They again state that, labour union is not an avenue for members to antagonize their employers in order to bring industrial unrest, reiterating that, they need absolute peace to serve their clients.In a press released issue and signed by all the scheme Managers in Tamale, the NHIS managers noted that the issue of their salaries and other benefits are embedded in their condition of service, saying that, the NHIA is in the process of enhancing their conditions of service.The NHIS Managers said the timely release of funds to the schemes for the payment of providers claims have brought smiles to clients of the Scheme in the region, adding that, quality health care delivery has been enhance tremendously over the years.“We also wish to acknowledge the speedy release of quarterly administrative support to the schemes across the country by the NHIA which has gone a long way to improve the administration of the schemes and our readiness to deliver good results in our work to generally improve lifestyles of the Ghanaian citizenry,” the released said. The NHIS Northern Region Scheme Managers said, they have enjoyed industrial peace as a result of the harmonization of their condition of service.“It is important for us to also state that, we have confidence in the council members of NHIA in handling issues concerning our condition of service.
