In the coming weeks it will be possible for companies to be registered in one day, the Vice president has assured.
According to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a government that prides itself with working with the private sector cannot continue taking forever to register new companies.
He was speaking at the review of the first 100 days of the Akufo-Addo government, a programme organised by the Multimedia group.
The programme was to appraise the policies of the new government and to find out if it has been on track in fulfilling its rather audacious promises made during the 2016 campaign.
It takes at least three weeks for new companies to be registered in Ghana by the Registrar General's Department depending on how influential one is.
In the process, many middle men charge exorbitant amounts of monies for new companies to be registered.
This, according to the Vice President will soon end.
Chronicling what he said is the 103 achievements in 100 days, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said it will soon be possible in the coming days for companies to be registered in one day.
After visiting the Registrar General's Department, days after assuming power, the vice president said it was observed that Ghana's laws, the Company Act, makes it impossible for the companies to be registered in one day.
As a result, Dr Bawumia said the government has begun drafting new laws to amend sections of the Company's Act that inhibits a speedy registration of new companies.
He said the draft is almost done and will soon be passed into law.
On the economy, the Vice president said the government is on track to building a strong economy focused on production and not on taxes.
Answering questions on the vigilante activities, Dr Bawumia said under a Nana Akufo-Addo government, the rule of law will be made to work irrespective of party colors and affiliation.
