The founder and bankroller of Unity FC, Mr. George Afriyie has kicked against gaining points in the boardroom.According to Mr. Afriyie, one major cause of the downward turn of the Ghana league is the situation where points are deducted from clubs and given to other clubs so that those clubs obtain points not on the field of play.He believes the repercussion of this practice is the lack of interest in the local game.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning Show on Friday, Mr. Afriyie said one important thing he would want to see in our league as an Executive Committee member is to make sure that unqualified players are made known to clubs so that they do not feature in matches. He added that if the new Executive Committee together with GFA President Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi is able to put this in place it would go a long way to help our league.Mr. George Afriyie gained re-election onto the GFA Executive Committee after polling 36 votes to place second to Mr. Fred Pappoe who polled 41 votes to represent the Division One side together with Messrs Kweku Eyiah and Wilfried Kwaku Osei Palmer on the Executive Committee.
