President Nana Akufo-Addo is asking the Burkinabe government to take measures to minimize the impact of the Bagre Dam spillage.
According to Nana Akufo-Addo, he is looking forward to a meeting with his Burkinabe counterpart on how to plan and ensure that spillage of the dam is done in a constructive manner.
“It is a necessity for us to work to control the movement of the White Volta and the spillage of the dam. It is extremely important for us in Ghana,” the President said.

The president said this when the outgoing ambassador for Burkina Faso visited him at the Flagstaff House to bid farewell.
Bagre Dam is a multipurpose dam on the White Volta located near Bagré Village in Burkina Faso.
The spillage of the dam has claimed lives, flooded farmlands and destroyed property at communities on the north of the country.
Northern Region communities such as West Mamprusi, Savelugu Nanton, Kumbungu, Tolon, Gonja North, Central Gonja and the West Gonja are among the worst hit by the perennial problem.
