Several pregnant women who were due for delivery were turned away last night by authorities of the Tema General Hospital following what appears to be a shortage of doctors there. A notice posted on the hospital walls by the authorities states there is a shortage of doctors at the maternity ward and asks clients to seek medical attention at other facilities for their own safety. But the families of the pregnant women say they are regular patients of the hospital. They say they are helpless because their relatives are in pain and are unable to get the necessary attention. An aggrieved family member told Joy News Sunday they have been shopping for medical services for his sister in the Tema Metopolis since Saturday. Hospital authorities have declined to comment publicly on the matter but confirmed to Joy News there is a shortage of doctors there.
