The mother of the 14-year-old boy who was sodomized by pastor James Aryee is appealing to the state for financial assistance to pay for the treatment and reintegration of her son into society.
Madam Adwoa Tawiah, popularly known as Maafio disclosed that since the incident, her son has a challenge playing with other teenagers adding that he has also become a victim of bullying at the hands of other children in the area.
The victim was sodomized by Pastor James Aryee at Obinim Da, a village near Asamankese in the Eastern Region.
The boy reportedly became paralysed some weeks ago and was taken to Pastor Aryee for healing who later asked that for purification, the victim be allowed to sleep in his house.
When the victim got to the pastor’s house, he was made to strip naked after which Pastor Aryee sodomised him.
Maafio told Adom News that her son has difficulty easing himself and is experiencing excruciating pains but said she cannot afford medical treatment and surgery to treat him.
She therefore appealed to sympathetic people to come to her aid to treat her son.
Meanwhile, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Anthony Yaw Nsiah Asare advised that the boy be treated as soon as possible to avoid further complications.
He said failure to do so would result in serious consequences such as the victim becoming accustomed to only anal sex because his only sexual experience was through his anus as well as him being exposed to some sexually transmitted diseases.
The Public Affairs Officer at the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit, (DOVVSU) of the Police Service, DSP Freeman Tetteh has offered free counseling for the victim with their resident Clinical Psychologist to assist him overcome the trauma of the sexual assault.
He said his office is making arrangements to bring the victim to Accra for the needed support.
