Law makers have set in motion a special committee to investigate apparent criminal activities of Fulani herdsmen in the country.
The nomads have been accused of all manner of criminal activates including rape and murder.
Their alleged nefarious activities reached a crescendo when residents of Agogo in Ashanti region vowed to kick them out.
The National Security Council issued a two week ultimatum for them to leave Agogo, after which the nomads were given a new place to resettle.
Subsequently, residents in Kwahu also threatened to wage war against the Fulanis if steps were not taken by government to keep the nomads away from their land.
On Thursday, the leadership of Parliament presented a paper to establish a committee to look into the matter.
The Speaker of Parliament referred the names of members of the committee and its leadership to the house for consideration.
Deputy Majority Leader Rashid Pelpuo told Joy News the marauding activities of the Fulanis are affecting subsistence farming in communities.
He said the Member of Parliament from Abetifi had narrated sordid activities of Fulanis, adding, the speaker wanted to have a scientific understanding of the Fulani menace for a thorough decision to made on it.
The most affected areas, he said, were the three northern Regions, Ashanti and Volta Region.
He said the committee would have nine regions represented and would visit the worst affected areas.
He said the details of the investigation would help in policy formulation by the executive.
