The Chief of Agbakorme, Togbui Akplaku Donnor VI says he will consider a suggestion to contact Airtel Touching lives, in order to get rid of the species of birds that have taken over the Agbakorme D/A primary school, causing so much inconvenience to teaching and learning.
Host of Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Adakabri Frimpong Manso on Wednesday made the suggestion to Torgbui Akplaku Donnor while interviewing him on the stench and health hazards the feaces from the birds can have on the pupils.
He said that he and the elders of the town have informed the District Assembly of the problem but nothing has been done about it.
The Heritage Newspaper on the 16th November 2011 carried a report on the strange birds that have hijacked the Agbakorme D/A School near Sogakope which has 94 pupils.
According to the paper, at least one nursery pupil or teacher falls ill due to unbearable stench and associated risks generated from faeces from the birds.
Not even a weekly cleansing of the classrooms with antiseptic by the teachers will soften the stench.
A resident of the town, John Amengor told Adom FM that the school building which was formerly a post office, has not seen a major renovation since its conversion.
He said the school has become habitat for the nocturnal birds and their feaces have taken over all the classrooms.
