Ahimakrom, a community near Debiso in the Bia district of the Western Region, is still in a state of shock and grief after a 37-year-old pastor was murdered in cold blood last week.
So much is the gloom in the area that each day residents continue to inquire about who the perpetrators might be and for what reason as they grieve over the deceased pastor, Rev. Francis Boakye of the New Apostolic Church (NAC).
Rev. Boakye was the manager of the local filling station and the unit committee chairman in the locality.
When The Spectator tried to delve into the matter, one other issue that emerged was how the attackers went to the Mission House at 10 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, unmasked and committed the act with impunity.
Another had to do with why the two killers did not take away any valuable item from the House.
'These are the issues the police have to find answers to," one community member said. .
In an interview, District Police Commander ASP Daniel Wiafe disclosed, "The town is in shock and grief. For the community, this is the first of its kind at Ahimakrom, so they are shocked".
He said that Rev. Boakye's wife, Mrs. Juliana Boakye, and the family were equally grief-stricken.
The deceased left behind six children, including a 10-month-old baby and another child under four-years if age.
"He was a popular man in the community," ASP Wiafe added.
The Police Commander noted that soon after the killers struck with a locally manufactured gun, they entered a nearby cocoa farm and fled.
"The Mission House is the last house at the outskirt of the town. We have taken over the matter and hope to get to the bottom of it," he assured.
