President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to meet some officials from Ivory Coast to discuss the ruling of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).

The meeting, Tuesday, will afford officials of the two countries the opportunity to map out strategies to implement the judgment by the Special Chamber.

Joy News’ Presidential Correspondent, Elton John Brobbey reported the President will state his official position on the ruling after the meeting.

ITLOS Special Chamber on Saturday cleared Ghana of the charge of violating the sovereign right of its neighbor, Ivory Coast with its exploration activities.

Ghana initiated the proceedings against the Francophone country after rounds of bilateral talks to resolve the maritime dispute were unsuccessful.

Ivory Coast had wanted the Special Chamber to declare that Ghana’s oil exploratory activities were beyond its marine borders.

But the ruling read by President of the Special Chamber, Justice Boualem Bouguetaia dismissed the claim for the lack of a “resounding argument” from the Ivorian legal team.

To avert damage to the bilateral relations between the two nations, the Special Chamber delimited the maritime boundary for the two West African countries.

Agents of Ghana and Ivory Coast penned their signature to a document accepting the ruling as binding, minutes after it was delivered.

The meeting at the Flagstaff House will enable the two nations find a most befitting approach to implement the ruling in order to avoid future dispute.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo will also be meeting officials of the National Development Planning Commission who will brief him on the country’s 40 years Development Plan.

“They will also tell the President what they have been able to do to implement the plan,” Elton reported.

The President will also meet players and team officials of the Black Stars Team B at the Flagstaff House.

The team will present to the President, the trophy they won after playing the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) tournament which ended on Sunday.
