In an era of a sinking movie industry, a deadly galamsey business that has destroyed farmlands, fouled the environment, Throwback Thursday on Myjoyonline.com digs deep into the archives of yesteryears and puts the spotlight on one of the most popular movies at the time-Kanana.
It is a hilarious movie of two men, BK Afandoh and Kweku Crankson who cracked the ribs of viewers with the Apakye and Akata, roles they played with perfection and thought lessons and values of hard work or rather what the lack of hard work can do to a lazy mind who always wants to cut corners to riches.
They were banished from the town of their birth for stealing but that was not lesson enough for them. They found themselves in a new town and repeated their trickery which brought pain and shame to them in the end.
Even though it was produced in 1992, the lessons of Kanana still remain relevant in 2017 for the country’s youth some of whom have now adopted internet fraud as a new Apakye and Akata model of creating wealth.
