Saddick Adam’s extra-time goal helped Asante Kotoko set a final date with rivals Hearts of Oak after a 1-0 victory over Medeama in the semi-final on Monday.
A level and entertaining fixture with both teams out for the win was not decided till extra-time when Adams fired past Yaw Ansah to take Kotoko through to the MTN FA Cup final.
Hearts awaited in the final after besting WA All Stars at the Len Clay stadium, and Kotoko and Medeama looked to join them at the same setting. The Mauves came out on the front foot and dominated the first half but failed to score due to their profligacy in front of goal.
Kotoko came out a completely different side in the second half, holding a high line to put pressure on Medeama and enjoyed chances which they should have converted. Saddick Adams was guilty of missing two in the dying embers.
He, however, made amends by scoring in the first half of extra time. The former Berekum Chelsea poked home from close range after poor defending by Medeama.
Kotoko were, however, let-off the hook after striker Bernard Ofori failed to hit the back of the net after beating goalkeeper Felix Annan.
After an entertaining semi-final, Kotoko will play their fourth FA Cup final, with Hearts awaiting on the 29th of October in Tamale.
It will be the first time the two teams will face each other in the FA Cup since their last date in 1990.
