The Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Joseph Ade Coker claims the party’s parliamentary primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 28 will be peaceful devoid of rancor and post election disputes.
According to him, all the aspirants have agreed to the electoral processes leading to the polls and reckoned any objection on the voting day will not be accepted.
The NDC held its parliamentary primaries for the "orphaned" constituencies last Saturday simultaneously in all regions except Greater Accra Region.
The primaries for Greater Accra were rescheduled for Saturday, January 28, due to a number of problems characterizing the electoral processes.
The contest is expected to be filled with tension as some constituencies will be keenly contested.
Primaries would, however, not be held in Weija where there could be possible creation of a new constituency.
However, speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen on Friday ahead of the polls, Joseph Ade Coker noted that all is set for the Greater Accra parliamentary elections without any unsettled disputes.
He explained that the inability to provide full delegate lists necessitated the elections to be postponed last Saturday opining all the issues have been resolved for a take off.
He asserted that he party has given all aspirants a level playing field, noting that no alarm is expected to be raised by any aspirant.
“We have given everybody a fair playing field. The campaigns so far have been peaceful and civil. Every aspirant have signed and agreed for a delegate lists so I think everything are alright for Saturday” he noted.
He charged all the aspirants not to create mayhem at the polling centre because they have all agreed to the rules characterizing the process. “We have a credible delegate lists agreed upon by all aspirants so I don’t anticipate any confusion at all”.
He stressed that by 1pm on Saturday the primaries would have been over so that they can prepare for the Black Stars match with Mali.
