The leadership of the Peoples National Convention say they are unperturbed by the latest court suit against the organization of the National Delegate’s Congress scheduled for Saturday in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo regional capital.
The Sunyani Polytechnic auditorium, venue for the congress seems ready for the event which is scheduled to start at 10am Saturday.
Party paraphernalia and posters of aspiring candidates for various positions are all over campus.
The Bono Ahafo Police Command says it is prepared to provide adequate security before, during and after the congress.
Regional Police Commander, DCOP Robert Ayalingo tells me security arrangements are in place to ensure incident free congress.
He indicated despite rumors of a court order restraining the organization of the congress, police is ready for tomorrow’s event.
Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the Electoral Commission George Gyabaah says though he is aware of a court order served on the commission in Accra, the Sunyani office is yet to be served.
Meanwhile General Secretary of the PNC Bernard Mornah insists the congress will come off as planned.
Saturday’s congress will elect six persons for the positions of national chairman, national organizer, general secretary, womens organizer, national youth organizer and a presidential candidate for 2012.
According to Mr. Mornah, a National Executive Council meeting scheduled later for Friday night at the Tropical Hotel was to discuss alliance talks with the CPP and plans to amend portions of the party’s constitution.
