A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kwesi Amakye Boateng, has called on President Mills to resign in order to uphold the integrity of the Office of the Presidency in the wake of the GHC51 million judgment debt scandal.
The KNUST Lecturer stated that the NDC should take steps to replace President Mills to save the party ahead of the December polls.
Speaking to Adom News on Tuesday, Mr Kwesi Amakye Boateng explained that President Mills has not been able to explain to Ghanaians the reasons why his orders were not carried out to stop the payment of the judgment debt to businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
According to him, President Mills should not have waited for the minority to raise these concerns before he promptly sacked ministers involved in the scandal and also directing the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) to investigate the issue.
Amakye Boateng said, if indeed the EOCO report fingered Deputy Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia and Finance Minister Kwabena Duffour to have also facilitated the payment, then there must be something wrong with the office of the President to keep the two gentlemen still at post,
He said, if the President is a beneficiary of Alfred Woyome’s financial support during his campaign in the Sunyani Congress, then there is a conflict of interest which means President Mills’ integrity should be questioned.
