Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has condemned what he said is the NPP’s lack of interest in the fight against corruption, adding that this explains why they are rolling over the Woyome saga to make political capital out of it.He told Joy News the opportunistic actions and double standard posture of the NPP must not be entertained in our body politics.“The NPP see this Woyome affair as the ticket to come back to power, so they are not interested in the fight against corruption, they are not interested in actions that would ensure that the money belonging to Ghana is returned to chest and returned to Ghanaians.”He noted that, ever since the Woyome issue hit the limelight, the NPP have succeeded in engaging in “naked opportunistic politics”.For instance, he said, the party unanimously refused to participate in the EOCO investigations, but “when the EOCO report was released they latched onto it; swore by it; they were very happy with the findings. Now they have made a sudden u-turn that, oh, we just found that the EOCO report is intended to cover up to protect the president.”Okudzeto Ablakwa said the NPP's decision to cooperate with the police in their investigations was just a face-saving gesture because they feared the police may come after them.He said President Mills has demonstrated enough commitment to the fight against corruption - irrespective of one’s political affiliation - which he said has been evident in the Woyome saga.“This is the president who is out there openly fighting corruption, even against some sentiments in his party, he doesn’t mind. And everybody must be applauding this president that he doesn’t care whose ox he goads.”
