Hard-hitting Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyepong, has described former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Betty Mould-Iddrisu as a disgrace to women.
He explains that Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu was negligent in the Woyome scandal since the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) report implicates her and reveals that there was enough evidence at the Attorney-General’s Department to have challenged and rubbish Woyome’s claim in court.
Speaking on Citi FM Thursday, Agyepong questioned why the former A-G single-handedly negotiated with Woyome to arrive at the out-of-court judgment debt, which is now dominating the media landscape in the country.
The morning show host, Bernard Avle, tried in vain to restrain the outspoken MP from referring to Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu as a disgrace to women, Ken Agyapong insisted and asked a rhetoric question "do you know the amount of money Ghana has lost through this woman? I can even go to my station as well as other stations and repeat it if you do not entertain such words here”, he added.
Nana Ato Dadzie, lawyer for Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, responded by taking a serious exception to Mr. Agyepong’s, saying: "Mrs Mould-Iddrisu has always led a decent life, both in private and public".
He said his client was a lecturer at the University of Ghana, and a Lawyer and that there is no doubt she has no stain on her integrity.
Nana Ato Dadzie said Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu did not go to court to file defense against Woyome’s claim due to evidence available at the time, stressing that later on when there was new evidence she filed a stay of execution on the judgment given Mr. Woyome.
Meanwhile Ken Agyepong has rubbished the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) report and said State Attorney Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh is being sacrificed since there were several other transfers made from Woyome's account at the Unibank, including GH¢2.9m made to Castle Account, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and some NDC national executives.
Kennedy Agyepong insist Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Mr. Newman, Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Deputy Attorney General Barton Oduro and several others must resign.
Touching on how he became bitter and dared to expose Mr. Alfred Woyome, Ken Agyepong said it was Mr. Woyome who first insulted him on Citi FM as a disgrace to parliament.
“I did not know him nor met him personally”, he added noting “it was the next day after Woyome had insulted me that I read the Auditor General’s report which had cited Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s name as a beneficiary of GHC58m judgment debt .... and I said this crook must be exposed, he is a thief and must be dealt with”.
According to him, Woyome is hiding behind Vamed to sue Ghana but, it is not legally acceptable arguing “for example I Ken Agyepong who has a contract with Hybrid Energy cannot sue government”.
