A rival faction in the Buipe chieftaincy saga has begun a manhunt for two of their people who went missing following a shooting incident in the area yesterday.
Four persons including the linguist of the Buipe Wura, Abdulai Jinapor are said to be receiving medical treatment as a result of yesterday’s incident.
Aides to the Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor claim the four were ambushed and shot whilst on their way to the police station to report moves by a rival group to disrupt an annual festival.
But the rival faction has denied the claims.
Seidu Fattal who is Secretary to the claimant Buipewura Wushie, claimed that emissaries had been sent to invite a sub-chief to the claimant’s palace but the emissaries were accosted by supporters of Abdulai Jinapor resulting in a violent confrontation between the two groups.
He said one emissary was badly injured but the “remaining two people, we can’t find them so we don’t know whether they have killed them and hid them or they have driven them into the bush. As I speak we are still searching for them.”
He also expressed displeasure with the manner in which the police is handling the matter and urged them to be neutral in their investigations into the matter.
