A member of the Communications team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the re-capture of Sheriff Asem Dake, a key suspect in the disappearance of the alleged 77 parcels of cocaine has send shivers down the spine of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).He stated that members of the NPP are having sleepless nights strategizing on how to go on vile propaganda in defense to cover up their hideous cocaine deals especially in the MV Benjamin cocaine scandal.Asem Dake also known as the ‘Limping Man’, who was arrested on February 2, 2012 by to officials of the Bureau of the National Investigations (BNI,) is alleged to have implicated some apparatchiks of the NPP under whose government the infamous MV Benjamin cocaine scandal occurred.The Limping Man who is currently in police custody is said to have mentioned some names of the people in the erstwhile Kufuor government who according to him, were part of the deal to import the 77 parcel of cocaine into the country in April 2006.However, the ruling NDC considers the arrest of Asem Dake as a significant step in unraveling the mystery surrounding the yet to be found 77 parcels of cocaine.The NDC believes Asem Dake, a key architect in the MV Benjamin cocaine saga, would help to put the matter to rest and bring all persons found culpable to book. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Felix Kwaye Ofosu said the NPP is now reeling under pressure and terrified by the arrest of Asem Dake since they are complicit in the disappearance of the supposed 77 parcels of cocaine.He alleged that the NPP government benefited from proceeds of the drug trade to finance their party campaign in 2008 which accounts for their failure to unravel the mystery behind the biggest cocaine scandal in the history of Ghana.The NDC youth activist said he is convinced that the disappearance of the supposed 77 parcel of cocaine under the erstwhile Kufuor administration is due to governmental conspiracy.Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that the reaction of the NPP leadership when the Executive Director of the Narcotic Control Board (NACOB), Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, said some politicians intend to use monies accrued from the drug trade to run their campaign in 2012 is a clear example of their guilt in the issue.He noted that attempts by the NPP to milk the controversial Woyomegate scandal to run down the Mills-led administration has fallen flat in their face.Debunking claims that the arrest of Asem Dake is a diversionary tactics to cover up for the Woyome judgement debt saga, Kwakye Ofosu said government remains committed to fighting against the illicit drug trade.Felix Kwakye Ofosu stressed that there would no room for drug barons under the NDC and that government would ensure all persons found culpable would face the full rigorous of the law.
