The rift, power struggle and very public disagreement in the Peoples National Convention is deepening.
General Secretary of the party Bernard Mornah is accusing the party Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, of sowing divisions in the party.
Alhaji Ramadan addressed a press conference but Mr Mornah contends he lacked the mandate to address the press conference.
He said having returned from congress, Alhaji ought to be seen to be building bridges and not promoting factionalism and division.
“We have just come from National Delegates’ Congress; we expected the National Chairman and leader of our party to bring all of us together and have a tete-a-tete with the elected executives of our party. Unfortunately there was and there has still not been such a meeting amongst those who were elected,” he stated.
Mr Mornah said in spite of pre-congress differences, “When congress takes a decision on who and who should work for the party, we have to work together.”
He said Alhaji Ramadan spurned wise counsel from both him and the flagbearer of the party and went ahead to organize the press conference.
“It is important to draw attention to [the fact] that not all of us were indeed privy to the content of the press conference and therefore if there are any nuances in that statement, they should be attributed to him and not the rest of the executive…” he stated.
