The New Patriotic Party has described as misleading assertions by the governing National Democratic Congress that it mismanaged the country's economy.The NPP is instead accusing the NDC of failing to improve innovative policies and programmes it inherited.At a news conference to respond to the issues raised last week at the NDC’s setting the record straight forum, the NPP’s Deputy Communications Director, John Boadu compared records of the two parties in all sectors of the economy and declared that the NPP’s achievements are unmatched.“The hospitality industry registered a growth of negative 11 per cent as against their own target of 13.5 per cent; the banking sector registered a growth of one per cent against a target of 17 per cent; real estate services registered a growth of 2.4 per cent against a target of six per cent; education registered a growth of 3.8 per cent against a target of 9 per cent; business registration registered a growth of negative one per cent against a target of 10 per cent,” he stated.He said these were not failed promises but targets set by the government itself which it could not achieve.“These figures, reported in the NDC budget statement, call for a sober and humble admission of failure and an honest analysis of why things are deteriorating so as for us to quickly remedy the situation,” Mr Boadu stated.Mr. Boadu said Ghanaians must give the NPP another opportunity to deliver on its policies.
