The Municipal Chief Executive of Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo region, Yaw Osei Adjei has denied claims he was behind an attack on the National Democratic Congress Regional Youth Organizer, Bukari Mahama.
The police are investigating the attack yesterday which saw Mr. Mahama being doused with some liquid substance suspected to be acid.
He blames the MCE because he says the alleged attacker was contracted by his house help.
He told Joy News he was lying down at home Thursday when at about 1:00 pm, he responded to a knock on his door. A youngman, he said greeted him and proceeded to engage him in conversation, asking what he thought of the December elections.
Bukari Mahama said he told the enquirer the President would do well in the polls but the parliamentary aspirant would not do well.
He said he then proceeded to pick something whereupon the suspect poured the suspected acid on him and attempted to escape but in spite of his pains, he chased him and got him arrested at the Wenchi market and handed him over to the police.
But the MCE who said the suspect is a brother of his houseboy, denied the accusations and said he had nothing against him or was he aware of any differences with between them.
He wondered why if a brother of his houseboy is suspected of a crime, he would be linked to the crime, saying it is the nature of his accuser to speak ill of him and that it was not the first time he was doing that.
