The New Patriotic Party is asking President John Mills to call his presidential aide Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye to order and to walk the talk on the thorny issue of election violence and political insults.
Vanderpuiye is accused of leading supporters of the National Democratic Congress to assault and scuttle a meeting by the New Patriotic Party youth in the constituency on Monday.
At a press conference on Wednesday, the NPP led by its Parliamentary candidate, Victor Okaikoi expressed disappointment about the seeming lack of interest by the police to investigate the matter.
Joy News’ Francis Abban reported Victor Okaikoi as saying the president must begin whipping his people in line.
“You will recall the president at an NDC rally at the same venue at Mantse Agbonaa called for peace on Saturday. On Sunday at the Church Service that was held at the Black Stars square [he] called for peace again.
“Then on Monday his aide Mr. Vanderpuiye visits violence on the people of the Ododiodio constituency.
“…Let President Mills walk the talk by calling his people to order. Merely exhorting them to desist from the language of insult from an NDC rally platform will not wash with the Ghanaian people,” Okaikoi stated.
