Seven days clear after the Accra Metropolitan Assembly begun decongesting the streets of the capital, Accra, some hawkers have returned.
Even before the exercise began at the congested areas like the Central Business District and around Circle, some of the traders suggested it was fruitless.
Scores of traders could be seen carrying out normal business activities on the pavements on Monday.
Sadly also, police officer right beside a No Parking/Loading signal passed by unconcerned as the commercial [trotro] vehicle drivers defy the laws.
It is yet to be seen how the AMA will deal with the resurgence.
Decongestion exercise last week
The Assembly wants to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa as President Nana Akufo-Addo has vowed to ensure.

To do this, the city would have to deal with the activities of unauthorised traders and hawkers who impede the flow of vehicular and human traffic and contribute to the heaps of garbage along major streets of the metropolis.

Accra Mayor Mohammed Sowah promised the decongesting activity will be sustained unlike what has been seen in the past where the traders returned after a few days or weeks.
