An emergency regional minister’s conference is currently underway in Kumasi to try to reconcile President Mills and his former boss Jerry Rawlings.
Joy News sources say a key strategy being considered is the formation of a coalition of traditional rulers who will be mandated to begin a mediation process that will mend the broken relationship between the two men.
Joy News checks also reveal that all regional chairmen of the party are also locked in a meeting in the Ashanti regional capital with the same objective.
The emergency regional minister’s conference is being chaired by Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Woyongo.
The Minister Mark Woyongo in an interview with Joy News' Evans Mensah confirmed the decision and the plan to reconcile the sitting president and his predecessor.
He said the rationale is to have both men “sing from the same hymn sheet.”
Asked if the move is to draft the former president into the 2012 campaign, Woyongo said; “not necessarily” but insisted the country needs a harmonious working relation between Mr Rawlings and President John Mills.
As part of the plan queen mothers in all the various regions will be drafted into the coalition to reconcile the two men.
He said the coalition will first meet the Chief of Staff to discuss the issue with them before proceeding to meet the two men.
