There was chaos at the SIC yard 2 polling station in the Odododiodoo in the second phase of the biometric registration exercise.
Some party agents challenged the residency of most of the hawkers and market women who queued to partake in the registration exercise.
Confusion broke out when the aspiring MP for the National Democratic Congress Nii Lante Vanderpuye came on the scene.
He explained to Joy News what may have caused the chaos.
“We are having a serious problem here. There is only a street that divides Korle Clottey from Ododiodiodoo. A lot of the people are in Korle Clottey but they want to register in Ododiodiodoo and this is a problem for us because the agents don’t think it is right. You have to register at the Korle Clottey.
Vanderpuye blamed the chaotic situation on the Electoral Commission for not educating the populace well enough before the registration exercise.
He said if the prospective voter can be identified as staying within the Ododiodiodoo electoral area the agents will have no problem at all allowing them to register.
The aspiring NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Captain rtd Victor Nii Okaikwei also blamed the electoral commission for not properly embarking on a sensitization programme on the registration.
