Having seen their title defence ambition blown in the domestic league, Berekum Chelsea are pinning their hopes in the African Champions League.
The Ghanaian champions are among sixteen teams who will go in search of a place in the group stage of the competition this weekend.
Chelsea, making their debut have progressed well and their continuous stay in the competition will be determined by Coton Sport of Cameroon.
Coton Sport, 2008 runners-up play Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Sunday in the second round.
Coach of Chelsea, Hans Van Der Plyum is confident of their chances against the side from Cameroon.
“We’re very confident that we can beat them but keeping our cards close to our chest,” Plyum said ahead of the first leg match.
“We know they are very physical side and so will try to ensure they don’t concede many goals ahead of the return leg.”
The winners of the second round ties will qualify for the group stage, and will be guaranteed a minimum $400,000, while the losers will be given a second chance in the Confederation Cup.
