As London prepares to host the most magnificent sporting event- Olympic Games- in July, Ghana like many other countries is looking beyond merely participating in the event and exploring ways to have direct benefits from the games.Ten Second Cycle Schools in Ghana are already ripping the benefits of the Olympic Games in a project christened the International Inspiration.Inspired by the UK Government and British Council, the II project is geared towards living a lasting legacy years after the London Olympic Games have been held.The project, with a vision to enrich the lives of some 12 million youths all over the world, using the power of sports, was inaugurated in 2007 in five countries including Brazil and India.Twenty countries have now signed on to the II project with Ghana launching its version in 2011.Project Manager of II in Ghana, Rhoda Enchil told Myjoyonline.com the hitherto long standing disagreements at he Ghana Olympic Committee delayed the start of the project in Ghana.Her counterpart and Project Coordinator Cosmos Adjei reiterated II “is using the power of high quality and inclusive physical education, sports and play to enrich the lives of millions of children and young people of all abilities in schools and communities.”He said Ghana’s best practice and its relationship with the UK earned her the right to be part of the project.He said British Council which is the main implementers of the project in Ghana with partners Unicef, have organized a Young Leaders Training Programme for representatives of the ten schools in four regions of Ghana.
