The People’s National Convention (PNC) is protesting the exclusion of minority parties in political discussion programmes on Multi TV.
The party cited their exclusion from “Caucus”, a political discourse on the Joy News Channel and said the situation does not promote multi-party democracy.
The party’s General Secretary, Bernard Mona made the comments while receiving a fully installed Multi TV digibox from a Joy News Television team at a brief ceremony in Accra.
He praised the Multimedia Group for promoting free speech through their programming but appealed for a review of the current situation where all the other minority political parties except the NPP are excluded from participating in “Caucus”.
“We would appreciate very much the involvement of the smaller parties. For now, we see it as a platform being used to promote just the NDC and NPP”, he said.
The PNC is the fourth political party to receive a fully installed digibox from Joy News Television after the CPP, NPP and the NDC.
A Sub Editor at the News Channel, Emily Nyarko who handed over the facility to the party, reiterated the desire of the Multimedia Group in general and the Joy News Television channel in particular, to seek closer working ties with all political parties.
Minority, Majority and Joint Caucus run on the Joy News Channel on Multi TV, providing platforms for the largest opposition party to propagate alternatives to government programmes and policies while the ruling party uses it to highlight its achievements.
Other programmes on the channel includes pm: EXPRESS and Newsfile.
